I was lucky enough to be introduced to Monet Fitzgerald by a mutual friend Xavia Undercroft. He told me that Monet had purchased the Second Life Ocean Liner, the Titanic, and was in the process of restoring it. Monet is a very busy lady, she owns the Waverly Yacht Club and Marina, Wyrldmaker. She hires out luxury yachts and caters for all kinds of watersport activities. The Waverly Yacht Club is ideally situated because it is surrounded by forty sailable sims. People with static yachts can also moor their vessels there and teleport to Paris, Rome, Ireland and many other places. She is also the events manager and she plans outings for the club members and friends. Monet purchased the Titanic and she told me that she may use it as her dwelling or hire it out for functions.
I decided to take a picture of the outside of the liner to show the immenseness of it. Monet is a gifted interior designer, her style is breathtaking to say the least. She goes in for detail and nothing is overlooked. She uses traditional oak or mahogany paneling and painted ceilings depicting old masters' themes. Monet does her own texturing and administers them carefully, in the right dimensions, unlike so many other designers that I have come across in Second Life. She had started on one of the decks of the liner and it looked fantastic, like a floating mansion.
She led me downstairs to compare it with a deck that has not been touched yet and the difference was amazing. Although well constructed, the empty deck felt like the inside of a cargo vessel in comparison. Monet told me that she has been doing some research to find pictures of the original interior of the Titanic so that she can make the Second Life version as close as possible. Monet showed me round the Club House which is truly sumptuous in every aspect. As well as the many fabulously furnished sitting areas, there is a spa, gym, pool, conference room and small cinema (media room). In my view the whole setting would be ideal for any real life companies who wish to hold their conferences somewhere spectacular in Second Life. Monet told me that she adds as many items as possible that work as they would in real life, so that people can be immersed in the experience of Second Life as if they actually lived there.
There is no doubt that Monet will restore the Second Life Titanic to all its real life former glory. Monet works very hard to make Second Life a total experience for herself and for everyone who comes into contact with her and her wonderful club.
