I went to the French Riviera in Second Life today and got shot at by the Mafia there, as I had my shields on I was ok and finally had a conversation with them. They told me they controlled the streets and often had battles with other gangs coming into the area. They were very protective of their own families and godfather. I was pleased that I spoke to them and thank them for talking to me.

With less than 24 hours notice, Linden Labs announced that SL would be down for four hours starting at 7 am PST, Tuesday, 12/11/2007. They purported to be, “upgrading some databases and adding asset storage capacity”, according to their blog (blog.secondlife.com) Fifteen minutes before SL was to re-open, another entry said they needed another hour because “one component of the system update has failed validation testing and must be reverted.” An hour passed, and the blog said, “two more hours.” After nearly 7 hours, the blog shows no extension notice. At 1:57pm the blog page indicates the support portal is restored and they are aiming for 2:30pm to open. At 2:39 the grid status reported SL was open and the webite reported 83 residents online. At 2:46pm 1,365 residents online and from then until 3:25 the population grew to near normal levels over 39 thousand. Now residents of Second Life know what it’s like in Tulsa, Ok in winter. Remembrance
The Second Life Worldwide Candle Lighting was held in conjunction The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting[R], an event held around the globe at 7:00 p.m. local time. The Worldwide Candle Lighting is held in remembrance of the lives of children of all ages who are no longer with us “…that their light may always shine.” This year’s event was held at Peace Chapel in Baddest and had a special display honoring the lives of children who have been murdered recently, including the victims of the Omaha Mall and Virginia Tech shootings, Sean Taylor, Riley Sawyer, Sophie Sergie, Kelsey Smith, and others. Participants were invited to place candles honoring their loved ones and post photos on the Remembrance Wall. The display will remain up at the Peace Chapel in Baddest (119, 79) through the end of December.

To Better Promote their upcoming movie Warner Bros. Pictures has creeated an area within Second Life, Which Simulates about 60 acres of New York. this area has been themed to the movie, contains a game. in this game you can either chose to be infrcted, or un-infected. the infected, have weopens, such as guns, and the infexted do not. from what it appears, the players go around collecting energy boosts, and health packs, while they try to eliminate members of the other team. the Land itself is split into four parts, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Coney Island and Chinatown. overall this is a very interesting game, and I personally reccomend it to all SL Users.

Jenn Hienrichs, resident of Second Life since Feb 2007 founded the group “The Best of Second Life” to share her love of the finer places in-world with her friends. Now the group, that came from a conversation with a friend, Relic Starbrook, boasts over 1,200 members. Between the two groups she provides information for, there are over 2,000 members. Each day a landmark of a place to visit in Second Life is sent to members using Notices. Places like: Nexus Prime a ‘Cyber Punk” city of the future and Sculptie Earth, showing a real time feed of weather conditions from RL satellites. Jenn says Second Life changes so much that each day’s landmark gives multiple benefits by revisit regions to find huge improvements. Jenn says more content is available at: www.thebestofsecondlife.blogspot.com. The Best of Second Life’s board of directors will award a $L5,000 prize to the winner of the group’s logo design contest. Entries have been judged and the winner will be announced Sat, Dec 8, 2007 at The Best of Second Life HQ (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tintafel/75/142/351) - 1 pm SL time. For iReports,
