Drugs easy to find in Second Life

Posted: 07:11 PM ET

I seem to be looking at the dark side of Second Life quite a lot and wondered if drugs featured heavily in some avators' lives. I had seen av's smoking giant 'spliff's' whilst on my travels, so I was curious to see what else went on. I easily found a drugs shop by looking in the search menu and teleported over there. I was amazed at the range of different drugs for sale, anything from Heroin to Magic Mushrooms. You might ask yourself how drugs give an avator the 'buzz' they are looking for. Well I've no idea, but apparently some of the drugs are scripted so they must do something. You can even become a dealer as there are advertisements all over the shop for people wanting to sell drugs. The owner of the shop has a notice by the door, a message for Linden Labs, it states 'You created Teen Grid Second Life with a reason. Enforce it and respect mature customers'. I wonder what the Lindens would make of this, but then again they want people to create their own version of a second life, and that includes warts and all.

one mans garbage is another mans treasure. everyone generally has different values... freedom.. fortune cookie time.

Why not report something good instead of something people cant even work out in real life without creating black markets, huge government tax grubbing organizations, and such.

Thank you for your comments lollol, however, although it would be lovely to only hear about the good things in life, to do so would be to deny that bad and harmful elements in society exist. I have never been one to bury my head in the sand.

Surely the only way to deal with the darker side of life is to have knowledge of it, therefore, in my view, my article is newsworthy.

who said this was the scary bad side of things? do you lecture beer drinkers over a micro brewery? of course not. The biggest "drug problem" many long leaf smokers have is...just finding some. otherwise, most are usually a pretty jolly bunch.

Well said Janey, freedom of the press and all that. At least we still have that in the UK, to some extent.
