Lighthouse Learning Island
Philip Rosedale (Philip Linden), CEO of Linden Lab, appeared inworld this evening to make his first PowerPoint as an avatar at a conference sponsored in RL and SL by the Institute for International Research. Rosedale mapped out a future where millions would use the 3-D world to collaborate even without a common language, and reassured SL landowners that prices wouldn’t change much after SL is open-sourced, as self-hosted providers would still face costs. He left before addressing tough questions about the competitiveness of his avatarized technology and concerns that humanity could become further isolated with virtuality if it replaced real human contact.

I am a bit disappointed with the lack of editorial standards applied to the iReport submissions. Specifically, the iReport moderators don’t seem to know who Prokofy Neva is and allow her to submit reports that are full of conjecture and negative emotional bias. This is the third article posted from Neva that starts out as an innocent news bit, but quickly slips into Linden-bashing editorial. It’s a bit shameful that CNN allows that sort of misuse.

Do a little research, kids.
