Over 70 avatars from around the world packed the International Society for Technology in Education’s island tonight for a panel presentation featuring Sarah Robbins (SL: Intelligirl Tully), Lindy McKeown (SL: Decka Mah) and Peggy Sheehy (SL: Maggie Marat). “Distance Education on the ‘MUVE’ : A place to go to learn together without leaving home” was an officially sanctioned National Distance Learning Week (http://www.ndlw.org) event and was, by all accounts, a great success!

Hi, I’d like to learn more about these kinds of events in second life. I will be hosting an event to discuss graduate degree programs that use new media as a learning tool. Can anyone offer advice?
Thanks,
Elena

Hi Elena,

Many people at ISTE could be great sources of information about similar events or groups that could help you. Come to ISTE Island sometimes (just search for it) and/or try a social on Thursday nights at 6pm SLT.

Also, for what it’s worth, I manage ISTE’s Speaker Series program in Second Life and would like to discuss the possibility of your presenting to our group in the same conference area pictured above. Please IM me in-world to get the conversation started!
